Ryukyu Koten Jyoshi Gakudan Uminai

Ryukyu classical music handed down from the Ryukyu Kingdom era has an image of formality but is highly regarded in the rest of the world. Female musicians who play classical music have made a unit in order to show people how wonderful this music is. Also, this music can be very close to us and not distant. The name of the unit Uminai means ‘princess’ in the Okinawan language. This is a female unit playing impressive classical music. Every member studied traditional musical instruments such as the sanshin, koto, and Ryukyu flute, and they are continuing their studies.
